Viktorija Kuliavaitė was born in small-town Ukmergė, Lithuania, surrounded by nature, art, and textiles.
During her BA degree studies, she did an exchange year in Denmark at the VIA College University where she gained a lot of practice in different textiles and how to custom-made textiles in laboratories. After that experience, her interest and motivation to deep dive into texture, passion for color, forms, and materials investigation led her to textiles.
In 2021 she started studying Master's degree in Textile Art and Design at Vilnius Academy of Arts. That made the biggest difference in her artistic career path, in 2022 September she had her first Collaborative exhibition Revising Connections exhibition at Artifex gallery in Vilnius. 2022 October - December she had her personal exhibition at UMI Art Incubator in Vilnius, then in 2023 April exhibited at the Litexpo event "Baldai ir dizaino sprendimai 2023", later in 2023 June exhibited her Postcard Series rugs at VDA Graduation show and at the same time finished her Master's degree. Presented and achieved success at the Young Designers Prize’23 in the Research category. Simultaneously she exhibited her rugs at the Museum of Applied Arts and Design Art museum in Vilnius and KCCC in Klaipėda.
In recent years she deeply explored landscapes, and surfaces of nature and implemented her research into developing rugs and surfaces. Specifically creating surfaces of rugs and poufs she aims to show how important are textures, for our motoric and sensoric stimulation. At the same time, her textured creations invite us to travel through different parts of the world indoors.
